Steve’s leadership style is centered around leading by example. He firmly believes that the key to success in a service business lies in putting people first. He champions a workplace culture that values and respects everyone, creating an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and innovation. Apart from Urgent Couriers, Steve is also an entrepreneur with a passion for using cloud technology to help grow small and medium-sized businesses. He is the founder of Exsalerate.com, a cloud-based CRM solution designed to help businesses streamline their sales processes and achieve growth. Steve’s specialties include fast logistics, home delivery, B2C warehousing, cloud computing, and CRM. His vast knowledge and expertise in these areas have made him a sought-after industry expert, and he regularly speaks at conferences and events on these topics. Overall, Steve Bonnici is an exceptional business leader, a champion of workplace culture, and a passionate entrepreneur with a focus on leveraging technology to help businesses grow.

Dane, our COO with over 18 years of experience at Urgent. After starting with the company on and off, Dane joined full-time ten years ago and has been instrumental in driving our growth and success.

Dane’s passion lies in developing new technology and smarter systems that enhance our customers’ and team members’ experiences. His diverse experience within the company includes roles as a Customer Service representative, Warehouse Manager, BDM for Exsalerate Product, Account Manager & BDM for Urgent Couriers, and Home Delivery Manager. In his current role as COO, Dane leads our team in optimizing our operations and driving growth. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time skiing, rock climbing, golfing, and playing frisbee golf. With Dane’s expertise and dedication, Urgent continues to innovate and exceed expectations in the logistics industry.”

Emily Sun

Meet Emily, the Finance Manager of Urgent Couriers! With over a decade of experience in the finance industry, Emily is a qualified Chartered Accountant of both New Zealand and Australia. 

Her qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, as well as a PostGrad Diploma in Accounting. Emily started her career in one of the big four accounting firms in NZ, where she gained invaluable experience in producing financial reports and analyzing financial information. Later, she moved on to work in a few companies in different sectors, including a public listed company and several corporate environments. Emily’s diverse background has provided her with a clear understanding of finance functions in business and she is always keen on process improvement and partnering with various departments to assist with planning and decision making. When Emily is not crunching numbers, she loves spending time with her family, especially her two amazing daughters whom she is very proud of. She is also a food lover and enjoys trying different fancy drinks. Bubble tea is certainly her favourite drink! Emily’s expertise, experience, and passion for finance make her an invaluable member of the Urgent Couriers team.

Meet Catherine, our Marketing Manager here at Urgent Couriers. Catherine’s journey with us began in 2003, when she joined our team part-time while still in high school.

Starting off by processing our overnight freight, Catherine quickly progressed to working full-time in customer services and later in special services and dispatch. She then moved into the sales team as a business relationship manager, where she excelled in her role.Catherine’s skills and interests in social media were recognized early on, and she was instrumental in building our social media profiles. Her success in this area even caught the attention of Campbell Live, a New Zealand television show. After spending 11 years with us, Catherine left to explore other opportunities, which included working for BNZ, My Food Bag, Fullers, and Mercury. She also traveled extensively during this time.

However, the pull of Urgent Couriers was strong, and in 2022, Catherine returned to our team as our Marketing Manager. In this role, she brings her extensive experience and knowledge to the table, helping us to grow and reach new heights.

In her spare time, Catherine is a massive foodie and part owner of Paris Butter, a fine dining restaurant located in Herne Bay. Her passion for food and the hospitality industry is evident in everything she does, and we are lucky to have her on our team.

Marcus Pouwels-Strang

Meet Marcus, our Sales Manager at Urgent! Born and raised in Hamilton, Marcus has always had a passion for the food industry. After completing his studies in Food Technology at Palmerston North, Marcus ventured off to live in Auckland and London with his now-fiancé Sarah.

Marcus has had an impressive career, beginning as a buyer in the foodservice industry and later transitioning into sales roles in both foodservice and grocery in the UK. He then moved on to work in refrigerated linehaul freight before finally finding his place with Urgent in January 2022. For Marcus, new experiences are what keep him motivated. He loves travelling and learning about new cultures. However, when he’s in need of some relaxation, Marcus heads to Waihi beach with friends and family to breathe in the ocean air. If he’s not at the beach, you can find him running, walking, or enjoying delicious home-cooked meals with Sarah. At Urgent, Marcus brings his extensive experience and passion for the food industry to the table, ensuring that our clients receive the best service possible. His commitment to his work and his love for new experiences make him a valuable member of our team.

Meet Deane, a logistics expert with over 30 years of experience in the courier industry. He has been with Urgent Couriers since its inception in 1989, and his wealth of knowledge and expertise has made him a valuable asset to the company. 

Deane’s focus is on providing clients with customized solutions that help them grow their business. He understands that every business has unique requirements and tailors his approach to meet those specific needs. He works closely with managers to help them understand their courier logistics and choose the correct services that will meet their business requirements in a cost-effective way. Apart from his work in the courier industry, Deane is an avid golfer and enjoys spending his free time on the golf course. He has also completed his Diploma of Business at Auckland University Business School in 2000 with a major in marketing. Overall, Deane is a seasoned logistics professional with a passion for helping businesses grow. His ability to understand client requirements, provide customized solutions, and deliver cost-effective services has made him a trusted partner for businesses across various industries. And when he’s not working, you’ll most likely find him on the golf course, honing his skills and enjoying the game.

Regional Branch Manager

Meet Ange…. Ange is the Regional Branch Manager for Urgent Couriers in Hamilton, responsible for overseeing operations in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Whangarei areas. 

She initially joined the company as a contractor in 2020 to establish these services, and her efforts were successful in addressing the need for a dependable logistics provider in these areas and continuing the growth and success of Urgent Couriers in the regions. Ange started her logistics career in 2016 she brings a unique perspective to her current role, focused on meeting customer needs. She is a Manager who leads by example, inspiring her team to strive for excellence and go above and beyond. She takes a proactive and hands-on approach to operations. In her spare time, Ange finds comfort in spending time with her loved ones while also enjoying activities such as yoga and listening to music. With Ange’s dedication and expertise, Urgent Couriers continue to thrive in the logistics industry.

Introducing Laura, our newest addition to the Urgent team. Originally from the North West of England, Laura moved to New Zealand in March 2019 with her son. Since then, she has been working in similar HR roles in NZ, focusing on people, culture, and wellbeing.

 Laura joined Urgent because she saw an opportunity to make a difference in a company that shared her values. When she met with Steve and Dane, she knew Urgent was the place for her, as their mindset was aligned with her own. As part of our team, Laura’s role focuses on ensuring our people are happy, healthy, and have everything they need to succeed in their roles. Whether it’s through providing training opportunities or ensuring our workplace culture is inclusive and supportive, Laura’s work is all about making sure our team is working towards the best experience for our customers. With Laura’s dedication to people and culture, Urgent continues to prioritize the wellbeing of our team members, and ultimately, provide exceptional service to our clients.

He has a passion for cooking and is especially fond of firing up his charcoal bbq. With his diverse skill set, Daniel is a highly capable sales professional and is committed to delivering exceptional results for his clients.
